Tyanna Omazic is a sophomore here at Olathe Northwest, and she is on the varsity volleyball team, and has been since freshmen year. She has been playing competitive volleyball for almost 4 years and seems to be a natural at the sport. Tyanna has the same goal as the rest of the team does, make it to state and look to bring home some silverware. She continues to work hard and try to improve so she can help her team achieve their goal.
Q: What inspired you to play volleyball?
A: I started watching it one day and I was interested in it. So I said I would try it, and I have been playing since.
Q: What position do you play in volleyball and what is your job?
A: My position is that I play in the middle and I am a hitter and a blocker.
Q: Who is your biggest role model on the team?
A: On the court my biggest role model is probably Maddie Schneider.
Q: Why is she your biggest role model?
A: On the court she is just a natural leader and helps everybody on the team so we can get better.
Q: What is your greatest volleyball story?
A: Getting a trophy for the MVP a year ago, it really boosted my confidence for myself.
Q: What advice do you give to incoming freshmen and future players?
A: The advice I give them is that you just need to play your best and work hard everyday and you will achieve your goals you have set for yourself.
Q: What did it feel like playing varsity last year as a freshmen?
A: I was scared at first and nervous, because I thought I wasn't good enough. As the year went on though I gained more confidence and really was not scared.
Q: Were you intimidated by the upperclassmen?
A: In the beginning I was because I thought if I made a mistake they would judge me and get mad at me. But then I soon realized that they are not like that at all and that they help you.
Q: What are your goals for the rest of the season?
A: My goal is t0 have the most blocks by the end of the season, and to help my team to state.
